BdWi-Verlag was founded in 1993 and serves as the academic publishing house of the Bund demokratischer Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler (Association of Democratic Scientists, BdWi). Its publishing program includes scholarly and critical works addressing issues related to science, university development, and education policy. The focus lies on the critical reflection of academic institutions, research and teaching practices, and the role of science within society. The publishing house also issues the journal Wissenschaft & Frieden (Science & Peace), which has been published quarterly since 1983. The journal covers topics in peace and conflict research, peace policy, and security debates, combining contributions from the natural, social, and humanities disciplines with practical and policy-oriented perspectives.
